F*ck Amazon…Borders in Downtown To Close

I hear Amazon mistreats books.

I’m just joking. I’m a huge fan of Amazon or any place that lets me buy books at a cheap price but they are to book stores what Napster was to the music industry a decade ago. Borders seems the hardest hit while Barnes & Nobles tries to modernize itself a bit more. I just got word that the Borders in Downtown Boston is closing (sales start July 1st).

Let’s see, Crystal’s, the Hat joint, Manhatten’s, Hip-Zepi, Barnes & Nobles, Filene’s and now Borders are going to be gone. Pretty sure that is just about every store I stepped foot in Downtown the past decade.

I’m all for cheap books but with all these book stores closing down they are really destroying my method of killing time while in the city.

Major Ladies of Boston – Murder She Wrote [mixtape]

Like I stated previously, it takes a lot to get me impressed by a female emcee. But the M.L.B.? Back when DJ On & On was running the Launchpad Cypher (LaunchPad is a Boston radio show and DJ On & On would pit 4 random local emcees together for a cypher), these women had the best cypher by far. Off the strength of that I’m checking it.

Rapsody – Thank H.E.R. [mixtape]

North Carolina emcee and Jamla Records recording artist Rapsody releases her sophomore solo release, the Thank H.E.R. Now street album. The follow-up to late-2010’s Return of the B-Girl, the project finds the Kooley High member offering listeners insight into her story and her intimate experiences over the course of 20 brand new tracks. Joining Rapsody on the guest tip throughout the project are Phonte, Mac Miller, Jean Grae, MURS, Raekwon, Estelle, Big K.R.I.T., and Marsha Ambrosius. In addition to mentor 9th Wonder, beats come courtesy of The Soul Council, Vitamin D, Nottz and more!

With that said.  Very few female emcees catch my attention but the 9th cosign alongside the features?  This tape is at least worth a full listen.

Styles P. – Where The Angels Sleep [video]

Reminds me of an apocolyptic version of that old Xzibit video “What You See Is What You Get”.

Damn has anyone heard from Xzibit since he told people Diddy took him to a gay club?

Drake – Trust Issues

I think Drake is my favorite current R&B singer.

Mac Miller – Family First ft. Talib Kweli

For the record, I am not a Mac Miller fan, nor have I cared to replay a Talib Kweli song in about 6 years.  None the less, this is dope.
