Available for free digital download on ThatsMajor.info on August 17, 2010, Lost Treasure is a collection of brand new material and selections that slipped under the radar. Having released cd’s with Hip Hop greats such as DJ Khaled and DJ Kay Slay, Lost Treasure is classic Dre. Dre goes in on new freestyles and original tracks like “Droppin Bills” produced by Marcus DL and “Fade Away” featuring reggae star Mighty Mystic. Its gives us a good look at where Dre has been and where he is about to go. Driven by the new single “Wah Do Dem (What It Look Like?) this is Dre’s best work to date.

Teaming up with the hottest Hip Hop night in the city seemed only right for the Lost Treasure release party. Cream Tuesdays at Underbar has become the hang out of the stars when in Boston. Led by marketing and brand management company Brand Nation, Cream has recently seen a slate of internationally famous DJ’s take over the set as well. DJ Drama, Clinton Sparks and Grammy Award winning producer Will.I.Am have all rocked crowds at Cream.

DRE ROBINSON – The Reason (Greg’s Fault) produced by Nelly ProToolz

in Hip-Hop, Mixtapes, New England, Thats Major Project by G. Valentino Ball on June 8th, 2010

One more from Dre (@DreRob) and the upcoming Lost Treasures. It all started with a joke. I tell this guy to quit playing around and rap. He took it to classic Dre rash mode. 70 bars on an original Protoolz track. Glad I could inspire great art. Thank me now.

CITY SLICKERS – Young, Wild and Free x If You Wanna Ride feat Amandi

in Hip-Hop, New England, R&B, Thats Major Project by G. Valentino Ball on May 12th, 2010

My people City Slickers are on some summer time anthem type stuff with these two tracks. “Young, Wild & Free” is a Nelly ProToolz and Capital J flip of Ryan Leslie’s “Real Love”. Cap J has a party energy as he explains why he is staying single no matter what. “If You Wanna Ride” feat Amandi is the flip side of the game. On this one they want to settle down. Guess this one is for the end of the summer. HA!

Session & Ant Bell – Soundwaves [Mixtape]

in Mixtapes, New England, Thats Major Project by MajorMusic on April 29th, 2010

SOUNDWAVES: This 10 track effort from Detroit Producer Ant Bell and Boston MC/Producer Session, pledges to be “Hip Hop for Listeners.” Producer Ant Bell, hailing from Detroit, Michigan, who manned the boards on this 10 track offering had this to say when asked about his direction for the project. “I had a vision for Soundwaves to play differently from what’s already out now. I tried to find samples no one used and create drum patterns that weren’t the norm. My thoughts were for Soundwaves to be purely about that, not just some bassy tracks that have southern club kicks to them. My main producer influences are J Dilla, Black Milk, DJ Premier, JR (of JR and PH7) and Nottz, so some of those elements can be heard in the beats.”

“Session and I formed like Voltron in November 2009, thru Iamchaundon. I heard one of the joints he was spitting on was a J Dilla beat and I’m like “Dude can rhyme!” After that I hit him up and gave him props. He heard some of my instrumentals and the rest lead to Soundwaves.” This collaborative effort has the components of clever rhyme techniques over instrumentals that vary from being laid back to edgy. “We say this mix-tape is “Hip Hop for Listeners” because Session is giving them an earful of metaphors and similes over carefully composed beats. You have to be a listener to really appreciate the final product of Soundwaves. Every song has relatable content.”

Boston bred Producer/MC Session had this to add. “I connected with Ant Bell online through a social networking site. He sent me a couple beats and I went to work. As a producer, I heard the emotion and passion and the colors that the beats possessed. That immediately sparked the MC in me. This project pretty much encompasses some of the things we think hip hop should sound like: Original styles, challenging flows, creative musical concepts, and beats. I know you will enjoy if you really listen. I shared a lot of myself lyrically on this project my sense of humor, my aggression, a little social analysis, and story telling. I just pretty much did what I would like to hear as a fan of hip hop music and the Soundwaves Ant Bell provided served as the perfect back drop to do that.”

Ed OG and DJ Chubby Chub remember Guru on Hot 97 Boston

in Interviews, New England, Thats Major Project by G. Valentino Ball on April 22nd, 2010

I was fortunate enough to be a guest alongside Ed OG and Chubby Chub as they shared their memories of Guru. Ed talked about the founding of Gangstarr and how Preemo and Guru connected. Chubb remembered how positive and humble he was. We also talked about Guru’s relationship with the Bean. Lots of great talk about a good brother. I was just proud to be in the room with that level of history. Ed teased us and said he’s going to drop an exclusive Guru demo that he has in the vault. Stay tuned. Soon as we got it you got it.

The World According to G. Valentino Ball Part Deux

in Interviews, New England, Rant, Thats Major Project by G. Valentino Ball on April 14th, 2010

Daniel Laurent, host of Masterpiece Radio, had me back on the show again to wax poetic about a variety of pop culture topics. Goooood times. Talked about everything from love in the craziness of today’s world to how each generation get the MC’s they deserve to how Bill Gates has “Block Mentality”. Also I spent a good part of the time trying to not get caught up in DL’s wild talk. “SNATCH!!!” This guy is the KING of loose talk. HA!

We’re back at it! Someone let him out to address ANY and ALL questions asked by yours truly! I made Greg take an oath before we started to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but. Hear his views on love, Tyler Perry, Boston affairs, work ethics and MORE! If you know Greg, this is nothing new, but if you happen to take a power nap under a rock and never crossed paths, this is your introduction!
